Metacognition Tutorial

Using a metacognitive tool, the Research Reading Log to teach metacognition and provide a strategy for students who need help with reading scholarly journal articles.

Metacognition Tutorial: Guidelines for Instructors

 1. The Metacognition Tutorial provides a tool or strategy students can use to read, understand and study a scholarly journal article or any other reading materials required for an assignment.

2. Students will need to have taken or completed the English 101 Library Tutorials before viewing this module. 

3. Students are encouraged to know how to find and evaluate a scholarly journal article using the library website and have prior knowledge of citation styles, such as, MLA or/and APA. 

4. Students will need to have a scholarly journal article ready and accessible online or with them in person before starting the metacognition tutorial. This will help them complete the practice exercise.
